Content
In this talk, we present recent progress in our study of the electromagnetic pion form factor using gauge configurations at the physical pion mass generated by the European Twisted Mass Collaboration. By working in the Breit frame, we obtain O(a)-improved estimates of the form factor as well as the pion charge radius. Employing twisted boundary conditions, we are able to study a wide range of momentum transfers and compute a model-independent value for the charge radius, comparing it to phenomenology, effective models and other lattice calculations. Combining data at multiple pion masses with multiple lattice volumes, we are able to perform a dedicated study of the complicated finite size effects which affect the charge radius and form factor.
